Name: Richier Azelinus
Birthplace: Brunwall
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 19
Affiliation: House Azelinus
Personality: Proud and arrogant. Vain and condescending. Protective of all his countrymen, but considers himself a cut above average stock due to his noble birth. Perhaps the only thing greater than his pride in his noble lineage is his love for his country and all it represents. Richier views peasants as a necessary burden that nobles must bear to accomplish menial tasks that are beneath the privileged. A slight deviation from the Brunwall norm, Richier views noble women in a kinder light than even peasant males. This is equal parts to to his pride in the nobility and his disdain for the lower class. So great is this dislike of lower class rabble that the young Azelinus has been known to physically abuse farmers and other lowborn citizens for even touching him.
Physical Description: Dirty blonde hair, muscles that boast the results of his training to enter the knighthood
, a build that stood roughly five feet and eight inches tall, and a smile that can warm the heart of any parent. A respectable physical specimen that masks a cruel heart.
History: The third child of a noble merchant family, Richier was born and raised knowing that he would neither ascend as heir to the family business like his elder brother, nor would he be sent off on a marriage to build an alliance like his elder sister. Perhaps it was his natural physical talent that saved the young noble from a life of mediocrity and little acknowledgement. Taking after his maternal grandfather's physique, Richier was almost the exact opposite of his brother's thin and mouse-like figure. Nimble and strong, the lad excelled in athletic feats unlike his brother who had a natural knack for the family business. The Azelinus head, Baron Rauffe Azelinus, saw great promise in the brothers. The elder would inherit the family business and lead the Azelinus clan into a new generation of prosperity while the younger would serve under him as an intimidating reminder that the clan bred not only the pen, but the sword as well.
Alas, the plans were short-lived when the seven-year old Richier began exhibiting unusual behavior. It began with simple antics such as playing hide and seek with imaginary friends and sharing secrets with the walls, but by his ninth birthday, his behavior had begun to disturb his parents. The youth spoke of things he should not have known about, claiming to have heard them in his dreams, and spoke often of getting stronger. Realizing that their youngest son was almost certainly Cursed, the Azelinus Baron and his wife planned an 'accident' that would rid them of the potential disgrace...and were it not for Jehanette Azelinus, the middle child of the family, that might have been the end of Richier's story. Possessing both the wit of her mother and the cunning of her father, she proposed that her younger brother be given to the Knighthood. Should he overcome the curse, their family would have a new foothold in the country via the military. Should he be killed in battle or succumb to the curse, he would die a 'hero' and none would be the wiser.
And so, on his tenth birthday, Richier was enrolled in the academy in order to become a Knight. Surprisingly, his strange behavior stopped soon afterward and he graduated as second in his class, earning the commissioned title of Lieutenant in the Brunwall Knighthood. Sadly, none of his family showed up to witness the first of many achievements he would have while serving his country, but his father did have a set of armor delivered to him, along with a spear, which Richier had shown the most proficiency with throughout his academy days.
Though not as intelligent as his brother, Richier knew why he had been sent away. Because of this, he trained diligently not only with his spear, but to control his Curse and hide it from others in the hopes that by winning honor for himself and his country, he would one day be allowed to return home to see his family once more. Sadly, the one thing he is ignorant of is his family name's influence on his success and how much it has aided him.
