Name: Lisaine Dawnheart
Birthplace: Faer'val, Iybraesil
Gender: Female
Race: Elf
Age: 21
Affiliation: None
Personality:
Physical Description: Lisaine looks generally unremarkable. She is of average height for an elf and has an average build. Her face is plain, with brown eyes and dark hair. Her clothes are similarly plain, consisting of worn traveling garments in drab colours.
History: Lisaine was born in the elven capital city of Iybraesil, unfortunately plagued by a rare birth defect; there was some problem with her vocal cords, rendering her unable to speak. When this problem became obvious, Lisaine's parents desperately searched for a way to cure their daughter, even going as far as requesting aid from various Low Magic practitioners. Even magic could not fix Lisaine's voice, and its use revealed that Lisaine was also a bearer of the Curse.
These problems heavily influenced Lisaine's early life, as she was schooled separately from the rest of the children her age, with additional training from the elven military to prepare her for her eventual exile from Iybraesil. This, combined with her muteness, meant that Lisaine had no close friends while she was growing up. To help her communicate with people, her mother, a merchant, used connections in the other kingdoms to teach Lisaine a form of sign language common among humans. Her father was a scholar with an expansive library, and Lisaine spent all of her free time there, reading about the rest of the world.
The time inevitably came that Lisaine's powers manifested, and it was immediately arranged for her to travel on the first ship leaving Iybraesil. The vessel was a small merchant ship under the command of a Captain Richard Lawford. Halfway through the voyage, the ship was waylaid by pirates, a rare sight in the waters between Iybraesil and Charlemagne. The bandits, led by their unpredictable quartermaster, plundered the ship and decided to take Lisaine with them, making her a member of their crew.
Though she was an unwilling member of the crew, Lisaine's training made her a valuable asset to the pirates. As they lacked anyone with any kind of medical skill, she quickly replaced the ship's cook as their head doctor and surgeon, despite only having rudimentary training in first aid. Lisaine was stuck with the crew for months, as they sailed up and down the eastern coast of Charlemagne, generally being a nuisance for any ships in that area. Their reign of terror was eventually ended, as Daemons caught up to Lisaine. They attacked the ship in the night, slaughtering the crew in the ensuing chaos and confusion. Luckily, the ship was close to land, and Lisaine managed to escape by jumping overboard, washing up on the coast of Charlemagne shortly after.
