Name: Evelyn Blackwood (Alias Alice Oswald)
Birthplace: Aerilon, a formerly great city in Charlemagne.
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: 20
Affiliation: Formerly affiliated with House Blackwood
Personality:
Evelyn is compassionate and kind, and she will offer aid to someone in need. She has many strengths and is very intelligent, but suffers a stutter that surfaces during times of stress. it is very well managed after years of schooling as a child.
Four years of torment left Lady Blackwood a broken soul. She is very shy, virtually silent, easily startled, flinches when touched, and becomes stressed in social situations. If frightened or upset enough her face becomes blank, as if she is no longer there; a coping mechanism for the horrors she has endured. Evelyn is also prone to periods of depression and night terrors, in addition to having a generally low opinion of herself.
There is still hope. Somewhere within her is the true version of herself that has been lost along the way. It is permanently damaged, perhaps, but still present. She remains to her father, her love still burns for her people, and if the opportunity presents itself the broken woman will gather herself up and rise to the occasion, finding within herself the confidence she once carried.
Physical Description:
Brown hair and eyes, 20 years old and 5’4 tall. She is a bit underweight at 110 pounds, and bears a crescent shaped birthmark above her right shoulder blade as well as many scars, most concealed by clothing. She is very pretty but doesn’t often smile, and dresses in modest clothing.
History:
After Evelyn’s father, Conrad, was murdered by his brother Alistair, the traitor established himself as the new Lord of Aerilon. At the time, Evelyn was 16 years of age, old enough to marry, so her uncle forced her into wedding his son, her cousin Luther. Her new husband was four years her senior and without a shred of kindness in his blackened soul. He took pleasure in tormenting his wife, finding new ways to be cruel to her daily.
Evelyn was always accompanied by at least one guard. Of course according to her uncle this was for her own safety, but it was really for her surveillance. The young woman wasn't allowed to send messages in or out of the city. She was only allowed to dress in a fashion that her husband found appealing, and could only own what he chose for her. He treated the young woman more like a slave than a wife, and enjoyed humiliating her. In addition to emotional abuse Luther derived pleasure from harming others. He tortured and killed people as well as animals for amusement, as well as to torment his gentle-hearted wife. His father made no attempt to bridle the sadistic young man, and Luther became greatly feared by the people of Aerilon as the greed of its new leaders drove the once-great and prosperous city into a sad economic state.
Eventually an opportunity for escape presented itself. Evelyn was able to slip away without a single penny or sentimental trinket, but at least she had her freedom. Somehow the young woman managed to survive the journey over the mountains, a testament to the strength that was still present within her. She fled her home, heartbroken and guilty for abandoning her people, and took on the false name "Alice Oswald." Currently she wanders, dressed in peasants clothing and taking work where she can get it, putting her skills to use in order to keep herself fed and sheltered. She keeps to herself, avoiding others if she can.
